Since 1994, Nadine Thouin has been invited to give master classes, workshops and conferences — as an instructor in residence or within the frame of international festivals — and to teach members of established companies alongside masters like Eugenio Barba, Carolyn Carlson, Thomas Leabhart, Sotigui Kouyate (Peter Brook), La Fura Del Baus, Glodwik Flaszen (cofounder of Théâtre Laboratoire de Grotowsky), Joan Font (director of the Comediants company). 1989-Present – Worldwide/ Practitioner and instructor of a varying forms of Yoga, Meditation and Buddhism.

1999-Present – China/ Teaching, workshops, conferences and project development involving artistic, cultural and training communities (privates, Colleges and Universities) in Beijing, Shanghai, Guangzhou (Canton) and Hong Kong.

2008-09 – Dubai, UAE/ Development and implementation of a body and mind coaching/Yoga program, directed at crisis management for business professionals.

1996-06 – Belgium/ Teaching, workshops, conferences and project development with presentations « In Situ » in the frame of the festival l'Académie Internationale d'étés de Wallonie – 10 projects in 10 years.

2000-02 – Mongolia/ Teaching, workshops, conferences and project development involving artistic, cultural and training communities (privates, Colleges and Universities) in Ulaanbaatar, disadvantaged areas (including suburbs and the Gobi desert), the Ministry of Education Culture and Science of Mongolia, Soros Foundation, University of Arts and Culture and the International Theater Institute, Mongolian Academic Theatre of Classical Arts and the National Song and Dance Academic Ensemble.

2000-01 – Korea/ Teaching, workshops, conferences and project development with presentations « In Situ » in the frame of the Chunchon International Mime Festival involving various artists from Seoul and other regions of Korea to participate.

2001 – Thailand/ Teaching, workshops, conferences and project development involving artistic, cultural and training communities (privates, Colleges and Universities) across Thailand to join the event. Special presentation in honor of the birthday of the King of Thailand (his Majesty Bhumibol Adulyadej) at Bangkok Cultural Center.

2001 – Malaysia/ Teaching, workshops, conferences and project development in Kuala Lumpur and Penang in collaboration with the Dua Space Dance Theatre Academy. Presentations « In Situ » involving communities joining in on the event.

1996-99 – Spain/ Teaching, workshops, conferences and project development. Presentations « In Situ » in historical places of the city of Compostela, Avila and Valencia.

1996 – India/ Teaching, workshops and conferences sponsored by His Holiness the Dalai Lama destine for the future professors of Tibetan tradition and for the National Folkloric troup of Tibet (Tibetan Institute of Performing Arts). Master Class of Kung Fu involving the entire general district (cooks, caretakers, directors, teachers, etc.) to join the class (the first exchange at the Institute of TIPA with western instructors).

1994-95 – Vietnam/ Conferences & research projects on Buddhism (Philosophy and Spirituality) leading to a documentary « Hué Viêt-Nam » presented and distributed internationally in three languages at venues such as the Festival international du cinéma et des nouveaux médias, Goethe Institute and United Nations.

In art, in situ refers to a work of art made specifically for a host site (locations of projects mentioned above include in a river, forest, under/on a bridge, public places like street-cafe-metro-supermarket as well as historical sites).

Approach:

Nadine Thouin's teaching approach is based on the development of personality and creativity of each participant. The course aims to bring each member to discover their own personal body language by developing a deeper awareness of physical, mental and creative/intuitive capacities. The individual teaching style pertains to a theatrical type of command over the body, which Nadine defines as “control by non-control” - mastering a perfect balance during each practice.

With more than 30 years of experience teaching her work, she has developed a unique, personal technique drawing on the essentials she has retained from her training with renouned international masters. Aiming towards participants becoming polyvalent, complete, and free from limits, she incorporates complementary techniques from disciplines such as dance, theatre, voice, gymnastic, Yoga, martial arts, Pilates, Min Tanaka as well as mechanics and body/mind therapies.
